Ens. Coda Mitchells | ENG BOT 18-Mar-24 07:22 PM
She enters the flight deck a little excited. She had never been here before and this was a chance to broaden her skills and abilities all over the space station. She had been pinged to work on some issues, mostly because she was free, but also because electrical issues were her area of expertise. After looking at her PADD to make sure she was going to the right request, coda walked up to the flight tester. "Ah hello. I was pinged for some flight issues? Can you explain what happened so I can sort of focus in the right area? The more detailed the better." Coda then began to unpack her engineering pack to set up a few tools that she may need.

Lt. Cdr. Sarah Graham | INT BOT 18-Mar-24 08:12 PM
Sarah had just landed. She went through her shutdown-procedure and took a mental note of the different warnings that were flashing in the cockpit. It was something about a sensor malfunction, she guessed that there was some kind of short circuit but that wasn't her area of expertise. As the engines finally stopped, Sarah walked out of her fighter with a degree of stress written in her face. She turned back at it for a second and admired her in insignia and mission symbol covered fighter before looking for the engineer. She didn't expect them to show up quickly as they were always overworked. As she spotted the Ensign, the expression on her face was replaced by a gentle smile. She walked over to her and raised her voice: "Hello, Ensign. Exactly, during my last flight, a sudden warning popped up about a sensor malfunction which was followed by the failure of some backup control electronics. I haven't had that issue before and I don't think it was a micro-meteor strike but I haven't checked it yet."

Hmm, this could be something simple or something super complex. She took a walk around the whole fighter, scanning for any other issues that she may not see with her naked eyes. Besides a few minor scrapes and damages from use that can be easily fixed, the main concern seemed to be in the cockpit. "Don't worry, I'll have this baby fixed up soon enough. You mind if I take a step inside? I've scanned the exterior and there don't seem to be any other issues so I may have to take a few panels out of the cockpit and see what's going on inside this thing."

Sarah restlessly followed the ensign and watched every step and button she pressed. Her emotional connection to her fighter was unhealthily tight, she ran her fingers over the cold metal exterior and thought about the problem herself but didn't come up with a reason. As it came to entering the cockpit Sarah gave the go-ahead. "Go ahead, you're the engineer. Do what you have to do!"

She didn't mind that the pilot followed her around. She assumed that the fighter held a lot of sentimental value. She understood to an extent, as she felt the same about her little engineering kit. Every engineer was probably as antsy as her if someone touched their kit without permission. Stepping into the fighter she got to work scanning the area. This might take a while, so Coda decided to work on her conversation skills! She was doing pretty good recently, no reason to go all quiet now, especially if this little fighter was important. "Can you go over what you were doing on the flight? feel any bumps or hear any unfamiliar sounds?"

Sarah was worried that it was something serious, even though it probably wasn't. It wasn't necessarily about her aircraft but even more about her job. She wanted to perform as well as possible to not disappoint on her new assignment. "I just felt a slight bump before the warning popped up. It was all downhill from there. First, it was just a warning about a sensor malfunction, I probably could have done that myself but then some backup systems failed and I returned as quickly as possible."

She examines the cockpit and begins to fiddle with the controls, taking apart some of the paneling to get deeper into the fighter and fix the issues. This wouldn't be too difficult, probably a replacement of a few components but nothing too serious. "Well, I haven't found the exact problem, but it doesn't sound too bad..." She opened her engineering kit and began to work, but the silence made her uncomfortable so she started to talk again "Ah, I hope you don't mind me asking, how long have you been on tripple 7? I was recently stationed here, and I don't think I've met you quite yet. I'm trying my best to remember everyone's name and faces."
